They will cancel it if you miss the first leg, but you can skip the last leg and still collect your bags.
So you just need a one-way ticket to SFO.

Is this still good? I tried to book from sfo – mel, aug 15-25 and priceline said :

These are not coming up for me for travel sfo – mel. How do I find them?

You sort of answered this already, but have you ever heard of an airline allowing giving you permission to drop the first leg of a flight? Essentially what Aviv is asking above, but asking rather than trying to show up and find your ticket cancelled. I’m guess know, but wonder if it’s worth taking the time to call and ask… Thanks (Moadim L’simcha!)
